Jason Applin and Bennet
Jason Applin was part of a cheeky cockney sounding band called Bennet. He did the vocals, played guitar and piano for them. They were formed in 1993. Two years later they signed a deal with Roadrunner records in 1995. They had a hit song called ‘Mum’s gone to Iceland’, which was inspired by the supermarket Iceland. They split in 1998 and Jason formed a new band called Union Starr. Jason says it’s difficult meeting up for live shows as he still lives in Reading and other band members live elsewhere.
Comedian Jon Richardson mentions playing ‘Mum’s gone to Iceland.’ by Bennet on the Russell Howard and Jon Richardson Show Podcast 26 – 11 – 2006.
