Tyrant are an indie rock band from Newbury and Reading initiated by Newbury Youth Theatre student Toby Davies when he signed up to website ‘find my band’ to locate members. A former drummer, he switched to rhythm guitar and became the vocalist. Joined by Jack Knight lead guitarist and Tom Leighton bassist, Louis Tyson drummer, Tyrant was created.
The four piece had written their first song ‘Pressurised’ after only two weeks of recording, as featured on their debut EP ‘Lights’. The record, which received them comparisons in local publications to current indie favourites Catfish and the Bottlemen, demonstrates a maturity and complexity in their musicianship beyond their years (aged just 15 and 16) along with a feature on BBC Introducing.
Tyrant’s upcoming gig dates include Hadfest, Different World fest and 50 fest. Previous gigs include the Corn Exchange, Rising Sun Arts centre, O2 Islington Academy and Proud Camden.
