Sahara Dam were formed in 2014 when singer/ rhythm guitarist Hannah Pickford and lead guitarist Mark Pendle Bury found drummer Dan Brown in Reading. Shortly after, Hannah’s sister Sarah, two years her junior, joined on the bass to complete the line-up, and in the summer of 2015, they broke out into the gigging scene. Drawing their inspiration from a wide variety of different genres, they have been continually praised for their distinct and individual sound that has been a challenge to place into just one category. The heavy riffs, ethereal vocals and memorable chorus lines come together to create a new, unique kind of alt-pop that is already creating excitement amongst their crowds.
They’re set to release their first EP this summer, having spent most of the winter and spring recording and playing gigs across Reading and London’s best grass roots stages – including Shoreditch’s Roadtrip and The Workshop, The Allycat, in Denmark Street, headlining south east London’s prestigious Amersham Arms, and playing return gigs at Reading’s Facebar.
