Kioko are a group of like-minded artists with big personalities who started their musical journey as boys in music class at school. They quickly defined themselves as one to watch with music reminiscent of reggae greats – their powerful hooks and melodies are filled with well-received sociological and political relevant messages, disguised by sharp song writing sensibilities and heavy cultural musical influences. An intriguing sound guaranteed to get your mind thinking and head bopping.

Made up of a range of personalities. Lead vocalist Matt Doyle; Jon Brown, the bands guitarist; Ben Torrens the bass player; Tom Collins on drums; Ewan Whyte and Laurence Taylor both have the role of trumpet player/vocalist; Josh Wilkinson plays the trombone. An eclectic mix of talent makes use of live instruments and has encouraged them to develop their unique fusion of soulful pop, reggae and jazz.

Kioko pride themselves on giving a high standard of lively and memorable shows with high adrenalin and energetic performances set to win over audiences old and new. During the last EP they were gaining radio support from Huw Stephens‘ show on BBC Radio 1, Huey Morgan’s show on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 1Xtra (who played favoured track taken from the EP, ‘Don’t Keep Me Waiting’ for a week) and had already performed with a great variety of artists including Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder, The Specials, The Musical Youth and Youngblood Brassband.

An infectious infusion of reggae, ska, and rock that you’ll find it
impossible not to fall head-over-heels for.
