If you haven’t had the chance to look through our September-December 2014 Music & Arts Programme now is definitely the time to do so! We’ve got a super series of one off taster workshops taking place from throughout Autumn. We kick off with our ever popular Ukulele 101 on Tuesday 9th September; we’re almost out of tickets for this sell-out session but it’s not too late to book on to African Drumming 101, Samba 101, Street Band 101 or Daddy’s Drum Club.
All of our taster workshops take place at South Street Arts Centre (except Daddy’s Drum Club which we run from our studios on Milford Road) so you might have seen them in the Reading Arts What’s On Autumn brochure here.
Here’s what we’ve got coming up and when…
Ukulele 101
This introductory ukulele workshop has everyone (even beginners) playing fun and quirky cover songs. The workshop ends with a big uke jam led by members of Readipop’s ukulele group The Small Strings.

African Drumming 101
An engaging hands-on introduction to African drums and drumming based around rhythms played on djembes and dun duns.

Samba 101
Reading’s samba drumming group Beatroots invites you to join them for an informative and energetic intro to Brazilian percussion.

Street Band 101
Street Band 101 is a new opportunity to experience playing in a funky street band. All experienced wind instrument players welcome! Bring something to blow.

Daddy’s Drum Club
Daddy’s Drum Club is a fun rhythm 45 minute workshop for children under five and their parents, based around simple, fun games and nursery rhymes. All drums are provided.
