In 2008, Seb and Sam met by accident during a Berkshire Maestros band skills class. The two became great friends after performing a handful of shows together, and after their time at Berkshire Maestros was up, they continued to keep in contact with each other. Over the years, Seb and Sam would occasionaly get together to write and rehearse songs in Sam’s garage. They would continue to perform at small events that were set up by their schools and friends at private venues and pubs.
It was around this time that Sam met Mike through school. The two shared a few classes together, one of which was music. After finding out they pretty much lived nextdoor to each other, the two discovered they had a lot in common and both shared a great interest in music. The two started a band with John Dally on drums, and the trio would become a blues cover band under the name ‘This Side Up’. Not long after their first show together, John left the band in pursuit of other interests. Soon after John’s departure, Sam called Seb to ask if he would like to join them. So in Spring 2013 the three contiuned performing around Guildford, Basingstoke and Reading as ‘This Side Up’. It was in Summer 2014 when the three decided to take a more creative route, which led to the brith and sound of ‘Vintage Thieves’.
